Even Odd Numbers

Submitted by: Yana

This is an activity I do to explain odd and even to my kids. It is from the Montessori method of education. For this you need number cards (1-10) and 55 counters (substitutes: bottle caps, marbles, small rocks, shells, or anything that corresponds with your theme).

We set the cards on the floor left to right. Then we name the number, take the same amount of counters and place them under the cards in pairs

Example:  **   **
……………………*

Number that have pairs are even and cards that have the last counter alone (tails) are odd. Kids enjoy this activity, especially the small ones, and when the counters are substituted with what they like, like marbles.
